Adoni Maropis

Adoni Maropis has been on 24, Hidalgo, and the Mortal Combat movie as well as much more. He is a very nice person through the mail as well as through email.

He also included a short note, but he answered my questions via email.

"Patrick, I am writing to answer your questions ... I sent the pic to you today...i hope it gets to you unsmudged and readable...

When was I first approached about being on 24?.... Hmmm...well... To be honest I had to audition for the role... My manager called and told me about and I got it and knew immediately that this was for me... It was very strange...

What has been my favorite acting job? Well this was fantastic and probably my favorite ....but I loved playing Sakr the Falcon Man in Hidalgo... But I TRULY LOVED playing Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat...now that was a blast...

When and why did I start acting? My dad sat me down after I got a Business Degree from West Virginia University and asked what I wanted to do with my life now... And after I gave him a pretty weak answer about going down to Florida and working in the sun-belt... He said... I can see your 2 brothers going to work everyday wearing a suit and tie but you I think it would choke you to death...i said you are right.... He said why don't you try acting... You are always performing for us...doing impersonations etc... And I said... Hmmm let me call a friend at a performing arts school... And walla...i went back to school at Point Park College for the Performing Arts and took everything from dance to singing to voice and speech and dialects and of course acting.... Patrick...i am a silly goofy guy with integrity and passion of course...but the acting world hasn't seen much of that yet with me...and would probably pass out if they did...;-)

My advice is... Life is short... Go after what you desire.... If you want to act...go for it... Everything in life is hard... And we all know acting is... 1 + 1 doesn't equal 2.... It can equal 9 thousand or minus 9 thousand as well... But I believe if you have a true passion for it... Do it... There is nothing like reaching down deep in your soul and bringing it out and letting thw world see it... So there you have it... I have struggled for years and still am not set in my ways...but I wouldn't give it up for anything... I love playing... And when you are a type 1 diabetic like I am... It's great to forget about needles and insulin and checking my blood and be some character who may live on an island somewhere... So with that said...if you want it....as in the words of Winston Churchill...."never never never never never...give up!"
All the best to you, adoni"
